FAQ#094 - Which are the available powering modes for SISGEO digital sensors?

 

All SISGEO digital gauges can be settled in two different powering mode:

  • ALWAYS ON: all digital sensors switched on together. Faster solution, but high power consumption. The system will take about 1 second to read each gauge.
  • TIMED: the sensors are powered and switched-on one by one. Reading of the chain take more time than "always on", but the power consumption is lower. In this case the system will take about 3 seconds to read each gauge.

The STANDARD powering mode is ALWAYS ON, so unless otherwise requested by the Customer, the sensors are settled as default in ALWAYS ON.

FAQ#092 – If I us a WR-LOG wireless system, when data will be available on the Gateway (SLOT TIME) and on my FTP?

WR-LOG system can send three type of data:
- Nodes data file
- Nodes health file
- Compacted or Custom Compacted file
In order to optimize the availability time, the Sampling Rate (SR) of each node must be inserted into the Gateway, so that Sisgeo STRONGLY SUGGEST to insert the sampling rates of each node into the Gateway.
If the sampling rate is not set from the gateway, the system will use a default SLOT TIME of 1 hour for Nodes data files and Compacted or Custom Compacted files.

FAQ#090 - Are the old 16/32 ch multiplexers compatible with OMNIAlog?

The OLD multiplexers 16/32 channels are compatible with OMNIAlog model GT-816.

Starting from the OMNIAlog firmware version 25.56.00, old mux 16/32ch continue to be compatible but all the new features available with 24ch multiplexers will be not available.

With OMNIAlog model GT-2400 the OLD multiplexers 16/32 ch are NOT compatible and do not work.

 

 
FAQ#089 - Which is Gateway model to choose for WR LOG wireless system?

The available gateways for WR LOG system are:

- 0LSWR868GW0 

- 0LSWR915GW0

- 0LSWR923GW0

These models differ from the frequency utilized by the internal 2G/3G modem.

In order to choose for the right gateway, please refer to the document to be downloaded by clicking on the "Document" icon.

If more than one model is suggested for the installation Country, you have to contact your Provider of mobile services in order to request which frequency it utilize.

FAQ#086 - How to solve the problem with dial-up connection under Windows in some language version

When you create the dial-up remote connection to communicate with miniOMNIAlog, there could appear an error regarding the driver of the Standard Modem 56000bps used for the connection. This error appears only if you use certain versions of Windows in languages different from Italian and English.

This problem could appear both configuring manually the connection and using the software supplied from SISGEO “miniOMNIAlog Connection Tool”. This software automatically configures the connection. Otherwise, the user should configure the connection manually.

If you start the connection, there could appear an error regarding the Standard Modem 56000bps and the connection could fail.

To solve this problem, SISGEO has a special version of miniOMNIAlog Connection Tool which allows indicating which drivers for modem 56000bps can be used. Therefore, you could avoid using the drivers on the Windows version installed on the PC. In addition to the Tool, SISGEO supplies a folder containing the working drivers. These drivers originate from an English Windows version and therefore are genuine and safe.

When you are trying to connect to miniOMNIALog, and an error about drivers appears or the connection fails, it is necessary to ask to SISGEO for the special tool by clicking on the following link

After receiving the new tool, it is necessary to proceed as follow:

  • Uninstall the previous version of miniOMNIAlog Connection Tool
  • Remove any modem of dial-up connections created with the previous tool
  • Extract on desktop the content of file .ZIP
  • Install the new Tool

After having started the new Tool, you could see a new button which allows selecting the drivers in the folder of the ZIP file and so, not those on the operating system.

In so doing, a new connection which uses the working drivers creates.

FAQ#085 - How many digital gauges in the same chain is possible to read with New Leonardo?

The theoretical maximum number of digital gauge (RS485, ModBus) that is possible to read with New Leonardo is 245 gauges (address from 1 to 254).

This is true only if the gauge is configured in Sisgeo laboratory in "Energy save" mode: the gauges wake-up and are powered one by one.

When the "Energy Save" mode is NOT active, the maximum number of digital gauges in the same chain that New Leonardo is able to read is 50.

FAQ#083 – How does the TRIGGER function of OMNIAlog digital input work?

The TRIGGER function of the two digital inputs available on OMNIAlog datalogger is typically used with seismic station. In case of an event (earthquake), the seismic station is usually able to supply a certain tension on its output (typically 5Vdc). If this output is connected to the digital input of OMNIAlog, and OMNIAlog is conveniently configured, the extemporaneous acquisitions of all the sensors connected to OMNIAlog will be done (the number of acquisitions is programmable on OMNIAlog web pages). This way, after an earthquake, it is possible to compare the readings of the instrumentation connected to the two dataloggers. Therefore, it is no necessary to wait for the planned acquisitions that could take place several hours after the earthquake.

In case the extemporaneous reading generated from the digital input overlies the planned reading, this one will be done at the end of the “extemporaneous acquisition”.

In case there are different “extemporaneous acquisitions” that overlie the planned acquisition, this one has the priority. Therefore, at the end of the first extemporaneous acquisition, the planned acquisition will be done. At the end of the planned acquisition, the remaining extemporaneous readings will be executed.

The extemporaneous acquisitions are read as “normal” acquisition from OMNIAlog. Therefore, the planned alarms are notified and the acquisition is saved in OMNIAlog memory.

In events log, the event linked to the extemporaneous acquisitions appears, in order to identify them.

FAQ#082 – Is there any precaution to adopt for the number of measurements saved on the OMNIAlog / miniOMNIAlog memory?

OMNIAlog is equipped with a microSD 2GB memory. This memory allows to save a very high number of readings. For this reason, it is necessary to bear in mind what follows:

  • if there are numerous readings saved in datalogger memory, exportation time both with USB pen and through web pages can take long time. For example, to export with an USB pen about 5.000.000 data point with related events logs and alarms logs, OMNIAlog needs 4-5 hours.
  • the traditional spreadsheets have some limits in number of lines and columns management. For example, Microsoft Excel and Open Office manage up to1.048.576 lines and 16.384 columns. Using the same example of the previous point, the measurement file (log measurements) extensively overtakes these limits. Therefore, opening the file, not all the measurements will be shown.
  • if the exportation needs a time period  that is superior to the configured acquisition time, the acquisitions that where planned are not done.

Therefore SISGEO strongly suggests to periodically download data and, later, to delete them from OMNIAlog memory. This way it is guaranteed an efficient data download.

FAQ#080 - What dimensions has the .CSV file in columns that contains the measures acquired with OMNIAlog and miniOMNIAlog?

The dimensions of the measures file “in columns” downloaded with OMNIAlog and miniOMNIAlog vary according to the number of sensors acquired and the stored cycles of acquisition. The higher is the number of sensors acquired and the number of cycles of acquisition stored, bigger is the dimension of the file.

It could be used the following formula to have an estimate of file dimensions:

Dimension[byte]: [(4+n)*10]+[(4+n)*6]*m

Where:

n= number of acquired channels

m= number of acquisition cycles

 

The result is expressed in “byte”

This data could be used to evaluate the data consumption in case of a transmission by e-mail or on FTP server.

Yes, if miniOMNIAlog is equipped with 2G (GSM/GPRS) modem.

To do so, the user must have already configured the relative web pages.

FAQ#078 - Is it possible to send SMS in case of alarms with OMNIAlog?

Yes, if OMNIAlog is equipped with a 2G (GSM/GPRS) modem, connected through a serial cable to its RS232 port.

OMNIAlog allows to set up alarm thresholds and the notification of these alarms could occur:

- by SMS;

- by email;

- by FTP;

- increasing the acquisition frequency;

- managing a digital output (for example to manage a siren)

In order to correctly use the first three notification modes, it is necessary to consider a suitable interface of communication:

- with a 2G modem on RS232 it is possible to send SMS, email and on FTP;

- with a HSPA router on LAN it is possible to send email and on FTP (but not SMS).

FAQ#077 - Which are the maximum cable lengths from instrument to datalogger?

 

The cable lengths depend from many factors, first of all installation and cable protections (screen, earth, etc...). Assuming that instruments are installed in a workmanlike, for the maximum cable lengths should be followed the next suggestions:

FAQ#076 - Why it is necessary add a termination resistor to the last digitized sensor of each RS-485 chain?

All SISGEO digitized instruments  (IPIs, Tiltmeters, H-Level…) use the RS-485 serial communication protocol

The RS485 protocol contemplate a termination resistor.

The recommended chain connection is point-to-point (multidropped) nodes as a bus mode (line). Star, ring or multiply network connection are not recommended.

SISGEO dataloggers has already a termination resistor assembled (typically 120Ω). On the opposite side (sensors side) is necessary to mount a resistor on the last device of each chain.

Without termination resistors, reflections of fast driver edges can cause multiple data edges and consequently data corruption. Termination resistors also reduce electrical noise sensitivity. The value of each termination resistor should be equal to the cable characteristic impedance (typically, 120 Ω for twisted pairs and for only one chain).

SISGEO supply the correct termination resistor (120 Ω, 240 Ω, etc.), considering the number of the chains connected to the same master unit (i.e. OMNIAlog).

The termination resistor must be connected on the appropriate sensor connector.

FAQ#074 - Which kind of datalogger is necessary to read a SISGEO digital sensors?

The sensors are read connecting the end cable to a Modbus Master unit (i.e. OMNIAlog or miniOMNIAlog) with RS-485 interface (DCE, Half duplex, no Echo) able to manage communication with SISGEO Modbus RTU communication protocol.

SISGEO’s communication protocol is available for the release upon request.

The power [W] of power supply must be chosen according to the sensor quantity  and power supply mode.

SISGEO suggests not to change the parameters set in factory (serial number, calibration, factors etc..)

The Modbus master unit (readout unit) must be set according to the IPI’s factory sensor configuration.

FAQ#073 - Which is the maximum number of digitized sensors (RS-485, Modbus), the maximum number of chains and the maximum length of cable in a RS-485 network?

All the SISGEO digitized sensors (IPIs, Tilt-meters, RDSs, H-Level etc..) use the serial RS-485 communication protocol.

1.The maximum number of digitized sensors in a RS-485 network are 250 (theoretical)

2.The maximum number of digitized sensors chains that is possible to connect to Modbus master unit (as OMNIAlog or miniOMNIAlog) are 4.

3. About the maximum distance (with digitized sensors configured in "Always On") :

a.      max. 250m (in one chain) from the 1st digitized sensor to the last sensor (physical cable length) and:

50 digitized sensors for Tiltmeters and H-Level

70 digitized sensors for RDSBH-Profile and IPI

b.    max. 1000m from the 1st digitized sensor to Modbus master unit (as OMNIAlog or miniOMNIAlog) with a suitable cable size, cod.WE606IPDZH)

NOTE: The sum of 3A and 3B lengths can’t exceed 1000m. The compliance of points 3A and 3B, avoids the excessive voltage drop on the RS-485 line and guarantees the correct RS-485 network operation

FAQ#072 - Why pushing RUN in a miniOMNIAlog webpage with 3G/2G modem the local connection with the PC gets lost?

The loss of the local connection with the PC is normal. This happens because the communication “bus” is the same between PC and miniOMNIAlog and between miniOMNIAlog and 3G/2G modem. Therefore, if you start miniOMNIAlog from the web, the communication is directed towards the 3G/2G modem. This allows to the modem to send SMS, e-mail or data on FTP server in case of need.

FAQ#071 - Why miniOMNIAlog is supplied through the PC when it is connected through USB?

This feature allows to not consume the internal batteries during the configuration phase or during the data download.

In this way, independently from the duration of the activities above described, the internal batteries are used only during the field activities (acquisition, data dispatch etc). This guarantees a superior duration of exercise.

FAQ#070 - If you disconnect the USB cable from miniOMNIAlog, the datalogger resets. Is it normal?

Yes, it is. This takes place because when you connect the PC though USB connection, miniOMNIAlog is powered by the PC. If you disconnect the USB cable, miniOMNIAlog resets to change its supply source and returns to the supply through internal battery or from an external source (solar panel or electrical supply).

FAQ#069 - If miniOMNIAlog is supplied with internal batteries, can it read the digitized sensors SISGEO?

No, in case you have to read the SISGEO digitized sensors, it is necessary to use an additional module of power supply (code 0OMX24V030W). This is necessary to power the instrument with the necessary power supply.

This module considers the supply or from solar panel or electrical.

FAQ#068 - Using miniOMNIAlog, is it possible to do acquisitions leaving it connected to the PC?

No, it is not possible.

miniOMNIAlog, to do correct measurements, needs to be powered or from the internal battery or from an external power supply (solar panel, electrical supply) to supply to the connected instruments the right tension and current.

Leaving connected miniOMNIAlog to the PC through USB cable, the instrument is powered directly to the PC. The USB port supplies a tension of 5Vdc and a maximum current of 500mA. These values guarantee the correct functioning of miniOMNIAlog for what concerns its management (configuration, web server surfing etc.) but they don’t guarantee the correct functioning in case of acquisitions.

Therefore, it is necessary to physically disconnect the PC from miniOMNIAlog during the acquisition cycles to do correct measurements.

FAQ#067 - Is it possible to avoid the manual configuration of the dial-up remote connection and of the virtual modem necessary to communicate with miniOMNIAlog?

Yes, it is. You have to use the tool “miniOMNIAlog communcation tool” that you could find on the USB pen supplied together with miniOMNIalog and on SISGEO website in the product section.

It is not necessary to install the tool on the PC. Once you extracted it in a PC local folder, simply starting it, it is possible to do automatically both the configuration of the dial-up remote connection and the virtual modem configuration.

The addition of new miniOMNIAlogs is totally automatic. It is sufficient to connect the new miniOMNIAlog and start the software. In this case the tool adds the virtual modem associated to the new miniOMNIAlog to the already existing dial-up remote connection.

The tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Windows 8 in version 32bit and 64bit.

FAQ#066 - Why opening the file of log .CSV of OMNIAlog/miniOMNIAlog in French with Microsoft Office Excel some “strange” characters are visualized instead of some letters?

The cause of this is problem is that Excel opens the CSV files with an incorrect encoding. In the CSV files in French, there are some particular characters (example: “é”, “à”) that, to be correctly visualized, need the encoding UNICODE UTF-8. This encoding is not that of default of Excel, so the file is codified in a non-opportune way.

To correctly visualize the characters it is necessary (*):

  1. open Excel;
  2. select from the menu bar the tab “Data” and then the entry “From text”;
  3. in the window that displays, select the CSV file that you want to open;
  4. a window of file settings opens; select the entry “Delimited” and in the field “File origin” select “65001: Unicode (UTF-8)” and push “Forward”;
  5. in field “Delimiters” select “Comma” and push “Forward”;
  6. in the new screen push “End”
  7. in the window “Import data” push “OK”

FAQ#065 - What kind of cable I have to use if I want to connect OMNIAlog to a PC using a LAN cable?

For a direct connection between PC and OMNIALOG, the right cable to use is a CROSSED cable.

However, it could happen that also using a STRAIGHT LAN cable, it is possible to establish the connection with OMNIAlog. This occurs because from 2011 it has been realized a function called Auto-MDIX, that is available on some Ethernet (NIC) network cards. Auto-MDIX is a physical auto-sensing directly implemented on the NIC of the used PC. Furthermore, on this PC it has to be installed the specific driver of the same card. This is necessary because with the generic drivers of Microsoft Windows this function couldn’t work correctly despite it is on the NIC.

To understand if the NIC supports the Auto-MDIX it is necessary to verify it on the technical sheets of the used PC.

Anyway, it is possible to generalized saying that if a PC works with Microsoft Windows 7 or Microsoft Windows 8 (and any hardware post 2011), it has this function enabled in the 90% of cases. Pay attention if you own a PC with Microsoft Windows XP as operating system.

FAQ#064 - If I’m using the 3G/2G modem connected on port RS232 of OMNIAlog, can I simultaneously use the LAN connection, too?

No, when you use the modem connected on port COM RS232, OMNIAlog is configured (through its webserver) to transmit the traffic on serial port. This could cause connection problems if you connect the PC on the LAN port of OMNIAlog.

To use the communication on LAN port, it is necessary to disconnect the RS232 cable (or from OMNIAlog or from modem) and reboot OMNIAlog. OMNIAlog, at reboot, tries anyway to communicate with the modem through the port COM RS232 but it doesn’t find any answer, so the communication is transmitted on LAN port.

When the activity on LAN port is finished, it is necessary to do the opposite procedure: disconnect the LAN cable, connect the RS232 cable (and so the modem) and reboot OMNIALog. At reboot, OMNIAlog tries to communicate with the modem and, finding a valid answer, transmits the communication on serial port.

FAQ#063 - Is it possible to connect to OMNIAlog and download data through a 2G (GSM/GPRS) or 3G (HSPA,UMTS, EDGE, GPRS,GSM) modem connected on port RS-232?

Yes. It is possible to connect to OMNIAlog and download data also by means of a Dial-up connection (with protocol PPP). The connection is established using a modem on the normal low frequency voice telephony. The connection is established through the composition of a normal telephonic number, using opportune programs called “dialer”.

The maximum speed is 9600bps, therefore the download of data from OMNIAlog could be very long.

In addition, the connection to the network ceases at the end of the call. The accidental interruption of the telephonic connection determines the disconnection of the client computer from the network. This causes the failure of the download, forcing the user to restart from the beginning.

SISGEO suggests to use the Dial-up PPP connection only in case of emergency.

The use of a 2G modem or 3G modem connected to OMNIAlog is necessary to send data through e-mail or on FTP server, or to send alarm SMS.

For remote connection to OMNIAlog, on mobile network, it is therefore preferable to use  HSPA router.

FAQ#062 - Which ports use OMNIAlog services?

It is possible to have access to OMNIAlog mini webservers on board using any internet browser. OMNIAlog could be configured to send data / alarms through e-mail and on FTP. In addition, it has a FTP server on board and a command line mode that uses the TELNET protocol.

To use these services, OMNIAlog utilizes the following ports:

TELNET: 23

FTP SERVER: 21

SMTP: 25 (default) or that used from the user account

WEB SERVER: 80

FAQ#061 - Does the 2G (GSM/GPRS) modem of miniOMNIAlog support 3G networks?

No. The internal modem of miniOMNIAlog is a 2G (GSM/GPRS) modem and therefore it doesn’t support 3G (UTMS) and superior networks. We recommend to ascertain with your ISP (Internet Service Provider) the presence of the 2G signal in the place chosen to install the datalogger. Otherwise, miniOMNIAlog couldn’t establish an internet connection through its modem. Normally, 3G network represents an evolution of 2G network but with different antennas and network devices. It is a common practice to maintain in operation both networks to give a global covering to all users. However, in those countries that in the past were never covered by wireless systems (2G network), the new installations consider the adoption of the last existing technology (3G or 4G networks). For this reason, there could be places where there is only a 3G signal and no 2G signal.

FAQ#058 - To communicate through USB connection with miniOMNIAlog, is it necessary to install some software or driver?

Yes, to communicate with miniOMNIAlog by USB connection a small driver (FTDI Driver) is needed, to permit to the PC to recognize the miniOMNIAlog. Usually, if your PC is already connected to the internet when you connect miniOMNIAlog, Microsoft Windows is able to download and install this driver automatically. If Microsoft Windows does not install the driver automatically or your PC is not connected to the internet, you can download the driver for free at the following link:

You have to do this operation only one time for each PC utilized with miniOMNIAlog. After that, every time a new miniOMNIAlog is connected to these PCs, it will be automatically recognized because the driver is already installed on your PC. With the internal batteries power mode, OMNIAlog is automatically configured to work with reduced speed (20MHz) and the network adapter card is forcedly shut down to minimize power consumption.
Normal working expects only the data download through USB flash drive, so it’s not necessary to turn on the network adapter card.
OMNIAlog configuration through web pages should be carried out powering OMNIAlog with an external power supply unit to avoid draining the internal batteries. So if you need to configure OMNIAlog we recommend to remove for a while the internal batteries and configure OMNIAlog to work with external power supply.

FAQ#056 - Are SMTPS (SSL) and SFTP supported by OMNIAlog?

OMNIAlog can be configured to send readings file by e-mail using simple authentication (SMTP) or on simple FTP.
SFTP and SMTPS (SSL) are not supported.
OMNIAlog  does not manage the security certificates.

OMNIAlog does not support also encrypted authentication (i.e. NTLM, MD5 etc.).

However, SISGEO supplies the datalogger carrying an already configured SMTP account, to allow the sending of e-mail (for sending data and alarm notifications).

The SMTP account will have the following format omniaNNNN@omnialogmail.com where "NNNN" are the last 4 digits of the serial number of the logger itself.

MiniOMNIAlog can be powered from 6 AA batteries or through an external power supply (i.e. from a little solar panel).
To preserve the batteries life, during PC connection, the power supply is automatically taken from the PC through USB cable connection. In any case a power supply (internal batteries or external power supply) is necessary to be connected.
NOTE: max current permitted on the mini USB connector is 500mA. It is not possible turn on the GPRS modem when the USB cable is connected to the PC and it is not possible to power the digitalized sensors connected to the RS485.

If the miniOMNIAlog has equipped with the internal  3G/2G modem a SIM with APN for internet connection is needed. The SIM selected must be enabled for internet traffic to send e-mail and file on FTP Server (for further details call your ISP “Internet Service Provider”). SISGEO suggest a Flat profile.

USB port in miniOMNIAlog is not isolated.
For the connection between PC and miniOMNIAlog, SISGEO recommends to use an isolated USB cable:
this is the professional tool to avoid and fight ground loops and equalizing currents and to protect against overvoltage, that could damage miniOMNIAlog or cause flood readings.
Isolated USB cable is especially recommended when the PC and miniOMNIAlog are connected to the main electricity network.

The optical fiber interface you can find in SISGEO catalogue is an ethernet switch with 4 10/100Base-TX ports (to link other LAN devices, in addition to OMNIAlog) and 2 100Base-FX ports (store and forward architecture). This interface is suitable for multi-mode fibres (50/125µm and 62.5/125µm) that allow lengths of maximum 2 km; for longer sections, you need to use a different model and single-mode fibres (9/125µm).

Generally, the supplied cables (“trunks”) have 4 mono-tube fibres, of which 2 are only in store. In SISGEO catalogue, the fibre is already connectorized (with SC-connectors) , but this solution is appropriate only if sections don’t exceed 200-300mt.

Despite they are equipped with a protection system for connectors and with a traction system for laying, it is difficult to trail some pre-connectorized trunks from a well to another for long distances. The maximum applicable traction force is approximately 500N, about 50kg. Furthermore, you need to take into account the weight of the same cable, rubbing and friction. For long lengths, it is advisable to do the connectorization on site (the intervention of a specialized technician with the right equipment is needed).

Yes, the rain-gauge is connected to one of the two digital input placed in the posterior side of OMNIAlog.

For the system autonomy, it is necessary to bear in mind that OMNIAlog connected to a rain-gauge it is always in measurement mode. Therefore, it will never go in “sleep-mode”.

OMNIAlog takes a sample of the sensor continually and every 60 minutes it saves data. This interval is not configurable. At the end of every acquisition cycle, the reading is automatically reset.

The use of 3G/2G modem is allowed only in these events:

  • when it is necessary only the transmission of data on user’s FTP server or e-mail automatically after every capture or one time per day)
  • when it is necessary to send an SMS in case of warning

With 3G/2G modem, the remote connection has to be considered an emergency connection. Pages uploading is extremely slow in case of inadequate signal quality. The remote connection requires a pc equipped with a GSM modem or an analogic modem connected to the phone network (not digital and not passing through telephone exchanges).

SIM card has to be:

  • Internet-enabled (with APN) for the transmission of data on FTP
  • M2M for remote connection

CONCLUSION: In case of need to manage OMNIAlog from remote, it is strongly suggested the use of routers 4G/3G.

There are two communication alternatives, varying according to the power sources available on site:

  • with AC power supply it is possible to set up OMNIAlog to leave the router always turned on; therefore, the user could connect to every OMNIAlog with an Internet connection at any time;
  • with photovoltaic panels supply, being the router consumption very high, OMNIAlog has to be programmed to leave the router always turned off. The router has to be turned on only after every data capture (or one time per day) to transmit automatically the data on user’s FTP or by e-mail. In addition, the router will turn on in a 15-minutes temporary window, one time per day: during this temporary window the user can connect to OMNIAlog to set up the datalogger (once you are connected, you can stay online for all the necessary time).

In order to connecting to OMNIAlog using the Internet, it is necessary to install a 3G router inside the OMNIAlog box and to insert a SIM card (with APN) into the router. This card should be Internet enabled (SIM card not included).

DUTIES:

1 - Dynamic IP traceability

  • SOLUTION A: when you send a SMS to the SIM card number, the router communicates the current IP address, that is assigned by the provider (this operation has to be done every time you want to access from remote)
  • SOLUTION B: you should create an account on a service website (for example DynDNS). Thus, the dynamic IP address will be always updated without any user intervention.
  • SOLUTION C: the user has to have a data SIM card with APN and STATIC IP.

2 – Incoming traffic block (it depends from the provider) If the provider blocks the incoming traffic of data, the only usable router is mod. 0OMXROUTVPN

  • ROUTER INTERNET HSPA-VPN HTTP (mod. 0OMXROUTVPN) With this router the user has only to get an Internet enabled SIM (with APN). The above mentioned problems could be solved thanks to a free VPN service and the configuration done at Sisgeo laboratories using all the data supplied through the “APPLICATION FORM”
  • ROUTER INTERNET HSPA 4G (mod.0OMXROUT4G0) With this router, users have to get an Internet enabled SIM card (with APN) that allows the bi-directionality (both the incoming and outgoing traffic).

CONCLUSION: with router 0OMXROUTVPN the problems of providers that supply Internet enabled SIM (with APN) only for outgoing traffic (not bi-directional) and the dynamic IP traceability could be solved. If the provider doesn’t display these critical issues, it is possible to use router 0OMXROUT4G. The dynamic IP traceability could be solved as mentioned above.

For VW sensors Sisgeo has developed automatic algorithms to search for the resonant frequency in case of environmental noise or poor signal. In this way you can distinguish between the natural frequency of the sensor and the frequency of the noise, thereby reducing measurement errors and false alarms.

This method also provides improvement in the resolution.

A parameter, logged with the reading, shows the ‘quality’ of the readings. The reading quality parameter allows miniOMNIAlog and OMNIAlog to retake the measure automatically (second step) from a different start frequency.

From OMNIAlog FW ver. 7.13.19, miniOMNIAlog FW ver. 0.12.22 and CRD-400 FW ver. 1.0.31 an adaptive excitation method is added. Also a ‘tracking’ function has been added to avoid the phase of the wire research in order to reduce the measurement time.

OMNIAlog and miniOMNIAlog dataloggers also let you set some parameters (Excitation time [msec], Delay time [msec], sweep range [Hz]) for each channel.
