En la actualidad, la M30 es una \u00abbarrera\u00bb a la circulaci\u00f3n en las zonas urbanas que atraviesa. A pesar de su necesidad como parte de la infraestructura viaria de Madrid, contamina mucho el aire y tambi\u00e9n el r\u00edo Manzanares, por el que discurre.  <\/p>\n<p>Los nuevos tramos de carretera se construir\u00e1n en un total de 99 km, 56 de ellos en t\u00fanel.<\/p>\n<p>La construcci\u00f3n comenz\u00f3 en septiembre de 2004. El presupuesto total del proyecto se estima en 3.700 millones de euros. <\/p>\n<p>La reconstrucci\u00f3n de la autopista se har\u00e1 por tramos y se ha dividido en 15 proyectos distintos y cuatro regiones: norte, sur, este y oeste.<\/p>\n<p>La empresa municipal Madrid Calle 30 ha adjudicado a Necso y Ferrovial Agroman la construcci\u00f3n del t\u00fanel norte de la variante sur por 340 millones de euros. El t\u00fanel sur de la variante sur ser\u00e1 construido por FCC y ACS Dragados en UTE por 429 millones de euros. La variante sur es una infraestructura de 8.344 m y tres carriles dividida en dos t\u00faneles, de los que 7.212 m se construir\u00e1n con tuneladoras de 15 m de di\u00e1metro y 632 m con el m\u00e9todo de falso t\u00fanel. La excavaci\u00f3n de los pozos para las tuneladoras comenz\u00f3 en agosto de 2004 y la construcci\u00f3n durar\u00e1 30 meses. Ambos t\u00faneles, uno en cada direcci\u00f3n, permitir\u00e1n a los conductores evitar la intersecci\u00f3n de la A-4.    <\/p>\n<p>En septiembre de 2004, MHI-Duro Felguera SA, una empresa conjunta de Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd (MHI) y Duro Felguera SA, recibi\u00f3 un pedido para suministrar a Dragados-FCC UTE de Espa\u00f1a la tuneladora (TBM) de presi\u00f3n equilibrada de la tierra (EPB) m\u00e1s grande del mundo, con un di\u00e1metro de 15 m (4.000 t, 160 m de longitud) y una velocidad de avance de 0,665 m\/min. Los trabajos de dise\u00f1o del equipo ser\u00e1n realizados por MHI y la fabricaci\u00f3n correr\u00e1 a cargo de Felguera Construcciones Mec\u00e1nicas SA.
