Sono ampiamente utilizzati nella riabilitazione delle dighe. I piezometri forniscono dati per comprendere il comportamento delle acque sotterranee e il loro impatto sulla stabilit\u00e0 delle strutture geotecniche, come fondazioni, muri di sostegno, dighe e pendii in frana. La classificazione dei piezometri \u00e8 uno dei temi pi\u00f9 ampi nel campo dell\u2019ingegneria geotecnica: per individuare il giusto modello \u00e8 fondamentale conoscere la permeabilit\u00e0 del terreno e l\u2019obiettivo del monitoraggio. <br \/>I piezometri possono essere suddivisi in due famiglie principali: \u201cpiezometri aperti\u201d e \u201cpiezometri chiusi\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>I <strong>piezometri aperti<\/strong> (o piezometri \u201ca tubo aperto\u201d) sono verticali composte da un elemento filtrante (cella casagrande o tubo fessurato) e una tubazione singola o doppia che collega il filtro alla superficie. L\u2019acqua penetra all\u2019interno del filtro e dopo un intervallo di tempo variabile (in funzione della permeablit\u00e0 del terreno) raggiunge un livello d\u2019equilibrio. Se il filtro non \u00e8 sigillato ad una determinata profondit\u00e0 o \u00e8 collocato nella falda freatica, verr\u00e0 misurato il semplice livello di prima falda. In caso contrario, se il filtro \u00e8 sigillato ad un determinalto livello, verr\u00e0 misurata la pressione interstiziale nel punto in cui \u00e8 posizionato il filtro.    <\/p>\n<p>In questo caso parliamo di <strong>piezometri Casagrande<\/strong>, spesso utilizzati per il monitoraggio della pressione dell\u2019acqua in terreni mediamente permeabili. Le letture possono essere eseguite sia con sondine di livello (WLI), chiamate anche freatimetri, sia con trasduttori di pressione relativi (modello Sisgeo P252R, dotati di tubicino per la compensazione atmosferica). Possono essere inoltre utilizzati trasduttori di pressione assoluti, ma \u00e8 necessaria una elaborazione dei dati per la compensazione atmosferica.  <\/p>\n<p>I <strong>Piezometri chiusi<\/strong> vengono installati direttamente nel terreno, alla quota esatta in cui \u00e8 necessario monitorare la pressione interstiziale. I trasduttori di pressione assoluti possono avere diversi filtri con porosit\u00e0 variabile a seconda della permeabilit\u00e0 del suolo, e varie tipologie di sensore. I piezometri con sensori resistivi sono utilizzati per monitoraggi a breve termine e per acquisizioni ad alta frequenza, come ad esempio nelle prove di emungimento; i piezometri a corda vibrante sono invece impiegati quando \u00e8 richiesta alta affidabilit\u00e0 e monitoraggio a lungo termine, come ad esempio in una diga. Se \u00e8 necessaria l\u2019acquisizione delle pressioni interstiziali sulla stessa verticale in pi\u00f9 livelli, si installer\u00e0 una catena di piezometri multipunto (modello Sisgeo PK45M) con metodo \u201cfully grouted\u201d, che permette di ottimizzare i tempi di installazione ed avere risposte rapide alle variazioni di pressione.     <\/p>\n<p>Gli <strong>stramazzi<\/strong> sono strumenti per il monitoraggio delle portate nei canali a pelo libero: il principio di funzionamento \u00e8 il seguente: la portata d\u2019acqua \u00e8 proporzionale al livello dell\u2019acqua a monte dello stramazzo. L\u2019acqua scorre nel bacino di calma a monte e viene misurata con un\u2019asta graduata o, per la misurazione automatica, con un trasduttore di pressione installato nel bacino di calma. La portata nel canale aperto viene calcolata con un\u2019equazione.   <\/p>\n<p>Una delle applicazioni pi\u00f9 importanti \u00e8 il monitoraggio della perdita d\u2019acqua da una diga: la quantit\u00e0 di acqua persa \u00e8 un parametro per valutare le prestazioni di una diga ed \u00e8 una parte importante del progetto di monitoraggio della sicurezza a lungo
