Le moderne tecnologie di fusione ed estrazione mineraria permettono l\u2019uso di tali depositi a costi molto bassi. Il minerale contiene metalli tra 1,13% e 1,18%, di cui rame in maggior quantit\u00e0, ma anche molibdeno e selenio in una proporzione molto bassa.  <\/p>\n<p>La miniera di Chuquicamata produce minerali sulfidici, mentre la vicina miniera di Chuqui Sur, precedentemente conosciuta come Ex\u00f3tica, produce principalmente minerali di ossido.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Informazioni generali<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ubicazione: A Codelco, 15 km a nord della citt\u00e0 di Calama, nel Deserto di Atacama;<\/li>\n<li>250km a nord-est di Antofagasta, 1,200km a nord di Santiago. (22\u00b017\u2032S 68\u00b054\u2032W) <\/li>\n<li>Classificazione: miniera di rame a cielo aperto<\/li>\n<li>Dimensione: grandezza della cava: L=4,500m, W=3,540m, D=800m. Produzione: 650,000 metric tons annually.
