Akhangaran reservoir is located on the territory of Tashkent in the Republic of Uzbekistan, near Angren city on Akhangaran River, further upstream from the northern edge of the opencast coal mine. The reservoir is designed to increase the availability of water supply for irrigation, water supply for the industrial and municipal complex and diversion of Akhangaran River from the coal mine.

With its maximum height of 100m and a crest length of 1.633m, the dam was constructed in three stages.  The last stage was completed in 1986.

As usual, for the rehabilitation of the monitoring system activity, the first step was a technical visit of the Sisgeo technicians to evaluate the situation and propose the better solution.

Sisgeo has supplied the instruments and dataloggers for a complete automatized monitoring system, in substitution of the manual measure method, for the monitoring of the geotechnical condition of surrounding soil. Sisgeo have brought an optimization of the data transmission thanks the installation of about 50 WR-Log wireless dataloggers for the water level monitoring. The pressure sensors P252R installed have the barometer auto-compensation to obtain a high level of measure accuracy.
