The Ojo de Agua hydropower project is located close to the village El Carbon in the community of San Esteban (Olancho) in the north east of Honduras. The project will generate 109 GWh/year with an installed capacity of 22.5 MW, a discharge of 6.0 m³/s and a gross head of 418 m.
The project consists of a 40 m high gravity dam impounding a reservoir of approx 100.000 m³ of capacity, a 2.8 km long headrace tunnel excavated by drill and blast method, a 2.4 km long buried penstock, an outdoor powerhouse equipped with two Pelton units of 11.25 MW capacity each.
Sisgeo Latinoamerica has carried out the final monitoring system design, has supplied and installed the instruments and has connected them to the OMNIAlog automatic data logger.
The monitoring system data are managed through the WMS Web Monitoring System platform.
