Key Focus: Modernization and automation of the pre-existing geotechnical and structural monitoring system.

THE PROJECT

The Qayraqqum (also known as Kairakkum) Hydroelectric Power Plant is a critical infrastructure asset for regional energy supply and water management in Tajikistan.

To guarantee the highest safety standards and ensure long-term operational efficiency, the plant required a comprehensive revamping.

The primary challenge was the modernization and automation of the pre-existing geotechnical and structural monitoring system.

The old system, largely reliant on manual readings, needed to be replaced with an advanced, automated setup capable of delivering continuous, real-time data streams under demanding environmental conditions.

THE SOLUTION

To address the site’s complex requirements, Sisgeo supplied a comprehensive and redundant suite of high-precision instrumentation designed to monitor pore pressure, joint movements, structural settlements, and seepage:

A critical factor in the project’s success was the architecture of the data acquisition system.

The deployment combined OmniaLog dataloggers with advanced wireless dataloggers. On-site validation proved that a hybrid monitoring system (wired and wireless) was the absolute best solution.

This approach minimized complex structural cabling across the power plant while maintaining complete signal capillary, data density, and maximum network reliability.

When selecting a partner for this delicate upgrade, Sisgeo was the client’s first choice.

This preference was driven by Sisgeo’s strong brand reputation and proven track record in Tajikistan, built upon the successful supply and exceptional technical field support provided for the iconic Rogun Dam project.

THE OUTCOME

The transition from manual, intermittent readings to a fully automated, digital monitoring system has transformed operations at Qayraqqum.

The client now has immediate, high-accuracy visibility into the structural behavior of the dam and powerhouse.

This continuous data flow enhances day-to-day operational safety and empowers the engineering team to make proactive, data-driven maintenance decisions.

With this successful deployment, Sisgeo reaffirms its position as a leading premium partner for major hydroelectric infrastructure monitoring across Central Asia
